Wed. Dec. 9 to Fri. Dec. 18, 2015: Essay Completion & Independent Novel Study
Students were provided with a choice of essay questions for the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The rough copy and essay must both be submitted. The due date is Friday; however, the DEADLINE is Monday at the end of the day.
Students were provided with an independent novel assignment in the first week of September. This assignment is due/DEADLINED for Wednesday, January 6, 2016. I WILL NOT ACCEPT IT AFTER THIS DATE AS THEY HAVE HAD MORE THAN FOUR MONTHS TO COMPLETE IT. This assignment, as many of you have already shown, will be accepted at any point before the deadline. You will be given all the time next week to work on it.

Today, we discussed the similarities between Lord of the Flies and Genocide as defined by the United Nations.

Fri. Dec. 4, 2015: Movie Completion & Independent Novel Check
Today, we completed watching the 1963 version of Lord of the Flies. You will have a comprehension exam on this novel (and reading in general) on Tuesday. It will be multiple choice and matching.
I then gave you your three month novel study check-in. Most of you have finished reading the novel and are now choosing or working on the major assignment. This check allows me to see where you are and for you to let me know what support you may need.

Wed. Dec. 2, 2015: Chapter 12 and Novel as a whole
Today, you wrote a journal/summary on the novel as a whole. We then discussed these as a class, adding additional details.
We then began to watch the 1963 version of the film. You were instructed to take notes on the differences between the film and the movie (just jot notes).
